Crossing, Hackney 365 is a series of photos taken from the same point every day for a year. The view is across a pedestrian and cycle crossing on Richmond Road in Hackney. That was the idea. I was not in Hackney every day for a year. So the project extended, me taking the same photo every day I was in Hackney. The 365 photos extended from March 2016 until September 2017. I did not miss a day I was in Hackney, until five days before the end. I forgot once.
The task was to take the same photo but not at the same time each day. Another rule was to take the photo as soon as the camera was set up. This I achieved, give or take thirty seconds.
There is always something happening on this crossing, only a handful of the 365 photos have no people in them. The vehicles and people move through fast, do they take in what is happening on the crossing? Do they care? How fast is time passing and what changes at the same spot over a year? These photos are a chance for those people to catch up and for you to see some or all of 365 days pass.
